Trend Forecast: a New Hedonism called Sedüx
There is a need for the reclamation of hedonism in a more nuanced narrative that goes beyond its modern perversion. With the intention of looking forward, it is necessary to look backwards fiat the initial definition of hedonism which goes beyond ephemeral physical pleasures. Pleasure found in any aspect of life, including but not limited to: interpersonal relations, aesthetic likings, and any and all forms of love unattached to lust. The condemnation of the human anatomy and its sensual pleasures is one that is contemporary, and the result of cultural misinterpretation. As so, the society we live in has pornified the human body, and along with it any pleasures it can hold the capacity for.
As people become more in touch with the physicality of their own bodies, the lines between the personal and the public self are becoming blurred. After over a year of solitude as a result of a health-related global crisis, humans are coming to terms with their innate need for others. No one has been left untouched in this pandemic and in return, people are realizing that much like pain, anguish, and loneliness, pleasure is not dissimilar in that it is felt by everyone and found everywhere. Furthermore, humans are learning to crack the sense of security they have sewn into their sheets and embrace a world around them in a way that is vulnerable and unabashed
